7/19/18 – So George Schurr and Andy Miller were down 15-0 against Tom Meyer and Steve Hensley. The dreaded Shick was near and feeling very certain. Dirc was already planning to move the cans. One more round and it was probably going be over with. But with great determination and incredible focus they were able to release the bags from hell and respond with 21 unanswered points and defeat the cocky duo 21-15. An amazing Roy that we haven’t seen in a very, very, long time. Oh BTW Mark – no more commando. We really felt like we were in jeopardy. #metoo.

10 Yr Anniversary Spring Fling
June 14th 2018 the TPCA celebrated our 10 year anniversary playing cornhole Thursday evenings. The weather was perfect! We had 18 players ( 9 teams if you divide by 2) in a double elimination tournament. Due to a totally skewed draw the big winners were Tom Meyer & Steve Hensley. Congratulations! It was a really fun evening and no one got hurt primarily because Steve Miller didn’t play with his knives. Billy and Wally are on double secret probation for missing the event. Thanks Evan for the great photos!
Late breaking beer fog recollection – there was a rare double Shick : Elliott and Bryan got Shicked by Danny G. and Bruce who then got Shicked by Doc S. and Andy. Bahdabing Bahdaboom,.
Dirc’ed at Ye Olde Fort Pub
2/15/18 – It was a really special night at the pub. The weather was unusually warm, like in the 60’s. Raining buckets, but we had a lot of TPCA members show up. And then the most unexpected of events – El Diablo got Dirc’ed with different partners. This has never happened before at the pub. It’s a short course, it’s easy to put the bags in the hole, and yet this occurred. We are all stunned. We hope he and the Wallinator enjoy the Shick cans for a long, long time.
2017 Christmas Beer Exchange
12/14/17 – TPCA once again had it’s annual Christmas Beer Exchange and Cornhole Spectacular. We had 8 teams for a blind draw double elimination tournament. Dirc hosted at Jones Spring Company and we had plenty of beer and snacks. The winners were Tom and Dirc. There were two Shicks. First Andy/Goetz then Nick/Bruce. Merry Christmas to the new keepers of the can. Be sure to decorate them properly.

Run Preacher Run ….Fall Toss Off 2017
9/21/17 – We had our annual Fall Toss Off and Cornhole Extravaganza! We had 14 players, great weather, new landscape lights, and a freshly coated driveway. The winners were Dirc Lindeman and Rob Roy. The latter only shows up when there is free beer and a prize to win. He prays all day and gets a great partner that carries him to the win then leaves before the end of the night. Run Preacher Run … take your whiskey and run. Chicken. We’ll see you for the Christmas Beer Exchange and Cornhole Extravaganza.

Par 3 Goofy Cornhole
So we played the 150th Fort Thomas Sesquicentennial par 3 goofy cornhole golf tournament on July 5th at Tower Park. Boards are spaced quite a distance apart, sometimes at an angle, with hazards in between. They had 9 holes setup around the play set area. We played 2 rounds. Dirc Lindeman won with 2 birdies despite putting one bag on the pavilion roof and one in the tree branches! Robin came in second beating me by 1 stroke. Her distance throwing was impressive. They are the King and Queen of goofy cornhole golf. I’m taking a Midol and going to bed early. Goofy cornhole golf is not a recognized international event anyway.

4th of July 2017
The annual Michael Bradford Memorial Tournament was cancelled at the last minute so we created an adhoc tournament in my back yard. We had 6 teams and we each put $10 into a pot for the winning team. The weather was great and we all had a lot of fun. The surprise winners were Steve Miller and Mark Schweitzer – jeez we will never hear the end of it.
9 Year Anniversary and Spring Fling 2017
TPCA celebrated it’s 9th anniversary of beer, bags and brotherhood with our annual Spring Fling ! Six highly skilled teams competed for the coveted prize of Birddog Whiskey. The winners were Steve Hensley and Steve Miller. Clearly a stacked deck. Hens brought the cake and Dirc brought wings, beer and prizes. Good thing we have an athletic director to figure out the complicated bracketology. Lots of fun and we played till after 12.
ACO Competition
On March 25th George and Bill entered the ACO Cornhole Madness competition at the OK Horseshoe Club. This was a sanctioned competition against the best players in the world. George took 2nd place in the Seniors (55 and over) Singles competition and Bill got 3rd place. In the Open Singles Bill went up against Matt Guy the World Champion and got Shicked! He was hoping to just score 1 lousy point. Tough break on the draw. Maybe if he had his own personalized shirt, he would have done better.
A March Shick
The weather was so nice March 9th we played outside again. Apparently some people had become too accustomed to the short distance at the pub and could not handle the official distance of 27 ft.
Maybe it was the wind gusts, or maybe they just sucked. Tom Meyer and Dan Orem got Shicked first but Tom and Bill Keefer ended the night with the losing Shick and now have the cans. Nice job Dirc and Wally . Oh – but Tom was Shicked twice in the same night but not back to back so he just barely avoided a Dirc. Maybe a Meyer ?
